In the early 1990s, Paula Perry was a member of Brooklyn’s four-headed Masta Ace Incorporated crew. They released two solid longplayers, SlaughtaHouse (1993) and Sittin‘ On Chrome (1995), where she features several tracks. With her trouble-focused somewhat arrogant approach to rap as one big competition she fit very well in that environment, I guess. In 1996 the whole crew eventually split over conflicts. Paula proceeded as a solo artist with the result of releasing six 12″ singles under her name in the years 1996 to 2000.
I count two of her singles to my own collection: the bold polyfeatured „Six Pack„, a collab with Nikki D*, Rah Digga, Heather B, Precious P, and Bahamadia, and secondly her last publication „Y’all Chickens Make Me Laugh„. A fellow MC of mine immediately suspected a sexist spiced competitive attitude behind that title when she first spotted the cover of that vinyl in my hands – turned out she was right about that… but that’s words. Don’t miss the Six Pack: ‚cause that’s action.
